Voice Level Zero was created to address the "what next" or "now what" feelings my friends and I often had after a daily venting session. Sure, we need to scream, cry, or even flip a chair or two when the students leave, but how do you feel afterward? Helpless? Powerless? Doomed to repeat the cycle tomorrow? That's exactly how we felt. This led us into reflective conversations where we challenged each other, ensuring we always left with actionable steps to improve our situation. Ultimately, the only person we can truly change is ourselves. So, how can we show up better for ourselves and our students tomorrow? Teaching is hard, and we can’t do it alone. That’s why Voice Level Zero was created. We are better together.

The name Voice Level Zero stems from the countless times we've told our classes to use a "voice level zero" to quiet down and listen. It encapsulates the daily struggle we face as teachers: to be heard, respected, and valued. What better way to reclaim this phrase than by uplifting educator voices?
